In my hand

I walk down this alley almost every day. It is my route to an from Vancouver Photo Workshops & the Photo Haus Gallery where I work and teach. This morning Hanna and I were out for and early walk to enjoy the nice day. They must be doing work in the alley because I seemed to notice this paint only today. I was trying to make a nice composition but there was no way to avoid having our shadows in the frame, so I went with it.

Man with briefcase

I found this old celphone picture when I was working on my server. This was taken on Denman Street, around or on November 11, 2003. I think at that point I was using the Motorola SLVR, fuck I loved that phone. I feel on it skating, dropped it, had numerous accidents with it and the thing still worked. In fact, it probably still would, Taryn was using it up until she got her iphone.

I only saw one of these stickers put over top of the cross walk guy, but if anyone knows who may have done this, let them know I would like to buy them a beer. This is a wicked idea!

6 Cents

This photo was taken during breakfast at Reno’s. Anyone in the Mount Pleasant area of Vancouver will know the place i’m talking about. The place in the Lee Building that serves you shitty greasy food like you’re in a highschool cafeteria.
This was an old broken cash register, I think it may have been an omen.

Double Happiness Friday

The Sun finally came out here in Vancouver after more than a week of rain straight.
The whole family was out for a nice long walk, around the seawall then through the DT core to grab a B-Day present for Koa.
I crossed the street at Burrard and Robson and I kicked this.
I had to stop and take a photo. I crossed the street and realized my framing sucked. So I had to go back to take another shot. This one…

Falling Castles

This is a very old photo. In fact, back to the good old days of film.
This was shot on my Contax G1 Rangefinder. I was experimenting with shutter drag. I loved the sound of that camera.
I was living in the West End of Vancouver in a well known little building called the Strathmore Lodge. I loved living there. It had these cool Murphy Beds that rolled into the walls. The fire escapes were great for sitting on in the summer and late at night.

I miss that place sometimes. Great hood, great neighbours.

The Logman Cometh

The Logman Cometh, Oct 31, 2009.

The logman is a sculputral bench I guess you could say. ‘He’ is located in the park a few blocks up from my studio.
One morning while I was out for a family walk we noticed the toque and the face drawn on.
It stayed there for about a week.

Helmet

The Survivor, May 3, 2009.

The Red House, a famous house here in East Van was set on fire 2 days before this shot.
All the people got out fine.
Jeremy misses his house.
Eric is currently sitting at home nursing some wounds after being hit by a car.
This will give him a little nostalgia and perspective.
Also here’s a panoramic photo from the night of the fire.

Love ya Eric.
RIP RED HOUSE
